"Goin' to the Chapel, and we're gonna get married" is less true today
"Chapel of Love" - a hit 50's song by the Dixie Cups no longer rings true for many wedding couples. When we first started filming weddings in Sacramento and in Northern California almost 25 years ago, most couples were married in a chapel with a priest or pastor. A recent study found that most brides and grooms prefer to get married in a secular location, such as rustic barns, country clubs or at the courthouse. In this study, millennials chose a secular location 55% of the time. The study was done by Dan Cox at the Public Religion Research Institute and reported at Yahoo News.
“...Weddings today more often reflect the personal preferences and values of the couple rather than the prefabricated expectations of a traditional community.”
